Business profile:

This commendable franchised business was purchased and established by its present owner thirteen years ago.

It provides comprehensive ground maintenance including landscaping, grass cutting, ditching, hedging and weed control to a very wide range of blue chip clients in the North Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire post coded areas.

The business is supported by the Parent franchise holder who provide a broad range of services. These include a two-week introductory training course covering all aspects of running the franchise from landscaping to effective and safe use of machinery, chemical usage and storage, health and safety and basic accounting practices.

As part of a large group of franchisees the business also benefits from a central telesales operation that provides sales leads to help develop the volumes of business.

Clients:

The company has a total of eighty contracted clients to whom they provide their services on a regular basis depending on the size and nature of their requirements. The contracts vary in term from one to three years and include forty local schools and many NHS establishments. In addition to which there are a considerable number of on going “non contracted” working relationships.

Customer Service:

Customers judge the effectiveness of the company on their ability to consistently deliver a quality service within the terms of the agreement. A reflection of their customer satisfaction is the high level of contracts that are renewed time after time.

Key Opportunities:

Green issues and the management of our daily environment is taking up more and more headline space and the maintenance of the land surrounding schools, colleges, hospitals, park lands and general work environments is becoming more and more important.

There is a significant opportunity to expand this business and capture more of the available business within the franchise territory. The next logical step would be to recruit a contracts manager and to market the company’s activities effectively and in a structured fashion.

Premises:

The business has the use of two small industrial units and a secure yard where it stores most of its equipment. This is rented at a month fee of £600 plus council tax of a further £250 per month. If required the operation could easily be relocated to a location of the buyers choice.
Advertising and Marketing:

The company does not advertise its services apart from the activity carried out by the central telesales team.
Financial profile:
The business is being offered for sale on a going concern basis, all financial discussions will take place directly between the vendor and all interested parties under the auspices of Turner Butler.

Annual turnover is circa £260,000 with a healthy profit before tax being in the region of £45,000.

There is a comprehensive range of machinery, vehicles and tools. A full inventory of equipment will be available on request.
Management and Staff:

The business employs six full time staff including two supervisors. Team members have l completed training courses on the usage of all equipment and machinery they use on a day-to-day basis. This includes the chemicals used in effective weed control.
Support and Training:

The present owner is very keen to see his business pass into the hands of a new owner who will take the company to the next level in its development. Therefore the purchaser can be assured of a seamless and fully comprehensive handover plus the ongoing backup and support of the main franchisor.
Reason for Sale:

The director of the business has decided to retire
