Funding support for Scottish SMEs

Wednesday 12 April 2006

Two new investment products have been launched to provide additional risk capital support for growing businesses in Scotland.

Developed by Scottish Enterprise in partnership with the private sector, the Scottish Seed Fund and the Scottish Venture Fund will sit alongside the existing Scottish Co-investment Fund to assist early stage through to development stage businesses.

The products are expected to form the building blocks of funding packages for Scottish businesses, helping to grow and retain these firms in Scotland and enable the development of more companies of scale within the Scottish economy.

The Scottish Seed Fund will be launched in April 2006 and will invest up to £100,000 in start ups and early stage businesses seeking their first round of growth capital, while the Scottish Venture Fund will be able to invest up to £2 million in individual deals.
